The 2007 AARES Conference will be held at
the Rydges Lakeland Resort, Queenstown, New Zealand.

Queenstown, New Zealand
Queenstown is a cosmopolitan resort town with an adventurous
pedigree, pioneering background and friendly heart. Queenstown
is tucked into a picturesque Lake Wakatipu Bay and set in
the magnificent landscapes of the Southern Alps of New Zealand.
First the Maori came in search of pounamu (greenstone) and
the giant Moa bird. Later the gold miners, then farmers, adventurers,
film makers, wine enthusiasts and Hollywood stars. Born as
an 1860’s goldmining camp, 140 years later Queenstown’s
compact downtown area is energised by a permanent buzz emanating
from a lively café/bar scene and excellent shopping
precincts.

How to get to Queenstown
Queenstown is well served by major airlines with Air New Zealand
and Qantas flying direct from Sydney. Other carriers travelling
to and from Australia and New Zealand include Virgin Blue/Pacific
Blue and Freedom Air. Domestically there are several connections
each day from New Zealand main centres. It is recommended
that if you cannot fly direct to Queenstown, that you fly
through Christchurch as there are regular connections to Queenstown
within the same terminal. Access by road is a scenic option
– self drive or catch a scenic coach tour. Queensland
and northern NSW residents can consider flying from Brisbane
or Coolangatta to Dunedin, then travelling by road (about
4 hours) through scenic Central Otago to Queenstown.
It is recommended that you make you travel bookings
as early as possible to ensure availability of your flight
preferences and to take advantage of flight price special
deals.
