ALTA 2017 WELCOME RECEPTION

The ALTA 2017 Welcome Reception will be held in the dynamic SAMSTAG Museum located at the University of South Australia's City West campus. The SAMSTAG is one of the University of South Australia’s leading creative centres; its establishment, in 2007, reflects the University’s determination to make a dynamic contribution to the intellectual and cultural life of South Australia and to the Australian tertiary education sector.

The Welcome Reception is included with Full Registration. Join us on the first evening of the 2017 ALTA Conference. You will be sure to enjoy an evening of canapés and drinks, whilst networking with friends and colleagues and taking in the wonderful work on display at the SAMSTAG.

A highlight of every ALTA Conference is the dinner and this year will be no exception. It’s a night to experience the magic of the iconic Mortlock Chamber within the State Library of South Australia. The Hogwarts-esque venue will delight – serving a 3 course menu accompanied with a showcase of fabulous South Australian wine and beer. Special guest speaker is the culinary wizard, Maggie Beer AM. In April 2016 Maggie Beer was awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of South Australia in recognition of her achievements in tourism and hospitality, and to the promotion of Australian produce and cuisine. Join us to celebrate with friends and colleagues – this dinner will not disappoint!

Adelaide Oval is accessible by foot using the Torrens footbridge from North Terrace. Go between the Intercontinental and the Adelaide Railway Station to access.

The Art Gallery
First Fridays – 5 – 9pm
This is a free event.

Friday 7th July, the Art Gallery will be having a guided tour about the country’s richest art prize, a drawing tour and the jazz tunes of the James Muller Quartet. For more information, visit the Art Gallery website here.

An intimate Vietnamese restaurant, Phonatic serves a variety of dishes including pho, stir fry, cold rolls and sizzling hot plate. The prices are $$ - $$$ and you can view their menu online. Ginza Miyako Japanese Restaurant
A Japanese French fusion restaurant inthe 5 star Stamford Plaza Hotel, Ginza Miyako offers a Japanese cultural experience with the option of either sitting in a traditional style seating area or a western style area. The prices are $$$$ and you can view their menu online. They have gluten free options. They are open 12pm – 2:30pm Monday to Friday and 5:30pm – 10pm daily. Late Night Shopping
On Friday nights, Rundle Mall has extended opening hours until 9pm at night. It can be accessed from Hindley Street either on foot with a 15 minute (1.2km) walk or by catching the tram from the City West stop on North Terrace and getting off at the Rundle Mall stop for a 5 minute trip every 10 minutes.
