ALTA Conference 2017 Registration

Greetings colleagues.

As the Chair of the Organising Committee, I am delighted to invite you and your colleagues to the Australasian Law Teachers Association 2017 Annual Conference. A pinnacle event on the ALTA calendar, this conference is being hosted by the Law School of the University of South Australia, at our City West campus. This year we are also celebrating our 10th anniversary. With a fantastic location in the centre of Adelaide's major arts, culture and entertainment precinct, City West provides a hub for artists and academics alike, and an atmosphere that is ripe for the exploration of ideas and the pursuit of excellence.

The Law School building is in the centre of the campus, although most activities will be in and around the Hawke Building, named after Australia’s 23rd Prime Minister. The tram on North Terrace stops nearby, giving easy access to the rest of the city.

There will be an outstanding line-up of invited speakers, and a dynamic academic program built around the theme of ‘Law on the Line,’ which addresses the changing environment of the legal profession for both educators and practitioners.

The committee have been working hard to develop an outstanding social program that includes a Welcome Reception, in the late afternoon of July 5, at the fabulous SAMSTAG Art Gallery in the Hawke Building, and two dinners – one of which will be held at the iconic Mortlock Library Chamber – a stunning example of a late Victorian era library, displaying the rich heritage passed on to us by our bibliophilic forebears. In 2014, the magazine Travel and Leisure listed this library in their top 20 most beautiful libraries of the world.

Our conference, as always, is strongly supported by our publishers. Their continued support ensures that ALTA is able to provide a high quality, value-for-money event.

Open your diaries, block out 5-8 July 2017, and be sure to join us in Adelaide.

I look forward to welcoming you!

Regards,

Rick Sarre
ALTA 2017 Conference Chair
