Due to unfortunate circumstances Dr Margareta Nordin is unable to present at the Australasian Symposium on Neck Pain. The Symposium program remains the same with the remaining TaskForce members speaking on Dr Nordin’s behalf and an exciting addition to the program, Dr David Hall, Former Head of the Spinal Unit at Royal Adelaide Hospital.  

 

David Hall Dr David Hall MBBS, FRACS, FA Orth A, is a Spinal Surgeon in private practice in the Adelaide Spine Clinic and has a public appointment as a Senior Visiting Specialist in the Spinal Unit at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. (He was formally Head of the Spinal Unit) He is an active member of a number of learned societies, including the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA), International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine (ISSLS), Spine Society of Europe (SSE) and Spine Society of Australia (SSA). He has been a committee member of the SA branch of the AOA and Chair of the ISSLS Programme Committee. He is presently a member of the ISSLS Nominating Committee and an Advisory Board Member for the European Spine Journal.

Dr. Pierre Côté is Senior Scientist, Rehabilitation Solutions, Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis Program, Toronto Western Hospital. Dr Côté graduated as a chiropractor from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 1989. He has a Master's Degree in Surgery from the University of Saskatchewan where he studied neck and back pain in the general population. Dr. Côté’s primary research interests include the causes and prevention of disability related to neck and low back pain.

Dr. Linda Carroll is an associate professor in the epidemiology stream of the Department of Public Health Sciences in the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. Dr Carroll has had extensive clinical experience working with people with acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Her main topic of current research is to explore the inter-relationships among coping, depression and other psychological factors after soft tissue injuries, and to tease out their impact on recovery.
